Virgil van Dijk and Liverpool kept another Premier League clean sheet as they secured a 1-0 away win against Bournemouth.
After recording shutouts vs Ipswich Town and Fulham, the Reds seem to have sorted out their defensive frailties, which is a big boost for Andoni Iraola.
Van Dijk was once again solid at the back, but it was his centre-back partner Jeremy Jacquet who picked up the Man of the Match award.
And the Dutchman was full of praise for the new signing, who he believes has a lot to give this season.
Virgil van Dijk lauds Jeremy Jacquet
“I think he has shown a lot of good things so far this season,” said the Liverpool captain via the BBC.
“Still so young, a lot to learn and a lot to give. Let’s keep it going. It’s very important for us to get goals, Alexander Isak included.
“It was a good win here, a clean sheet and we go to the international break before bracing ourselves for a very intense period.
“Hopefully [this team can be] very good. Let’s all stay calm and keep working and not get ahead of ourselves.
“This was an important win at a difficult ground. We could have done a lot better, but we come away with the three points and clean sheet.”
Jacquet has been one of the signings of the season and has slotted in seamlessly in Ibrahima Konate’s place. What an impact he has already made at Anfield!
