Liverpool are currently 1-0 up against Tottenham after what turned out to be an entertaining half of football at Anfield.
The Reds made ten changes to the team that faced Fulham last week, with only Ronald Araujo retaining his spot.
The likes of Giorgi Mamardashvili, Joe Gomez, James McConnell, Trey Nyoni and Lewis Koumas all got their first starts of the season as Andoni Iraola rested all his big hitters.
And it was Alexis Mac Allister who made the difference in the first half as he broke the deadlock with a fantastic strike from just inside the box.
Michael Bridge lauds Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister
The Argentine’s first-time finish after the ball fell kindly to him was the difference between the two sides at the interval.
And former Tottenham player Michael Bridge was blown away by Mac Allister’s effort as he lavished praise on him live on air.
“What a finish this is, by the way, magic feet,” said Bridge via the BBC.
“He doesn’t just hit the far corner; he hits it right into the roof of the net. Really strong finish; he’s getting the results. How about that for a goal?”
Mac Allister has been among the goals recently and has fared quite well overall this season for Liverpool. Long may it continue!
