Matip confirms he’s fit enough to feature against Man United

Liverpool’s Joel Matip will be fit enough to feature against Manchester United on Sunday.

As reported by Sky Sports, the defender has confirmed that he will be available after previous doubts over his fitness.

The defender had been struggling with an injury that he picked up during the international break. However, after returning to training earlier this week, he has been passed fit to play.

While this is good news for Liverpool, it will come as a blow to Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren, who both would have been hoping for the opportunity to step into the team and make an impression.

Matip’s form has been keeping both players out of the team this season, despite many expecting Gomez to step up and partner Virgil van Dijk at the back.

It will also allow the 28-year-old to come up against Harry Maguire, with the two at the centre of a long-running debate this week about who is the better defender.
