Mignolet hails Alisson as ‘most complete goalkeeper’ he has seen

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has hailed teammate Alisson as ‘the most complete goalkeeper’ he has ever seen.

The Brazilian, who signed for the Reds from Roma for £66.8million last summer, replaced both Mignolet and Loris Karius as the club’s first-choice between the sticks.

Belgium international Mignolet, who signed from Sunderland in 2013, has served as Alisson’s back-up this season, while Karius joined Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas on a season-long loan.

Talking to MailOnline, Mignolet gave his brutally honest opinion on his teammate, saying:

As a goalkeeper, you learn from the guys you work with. He is Brazil No 1 ahead of Ederson. The main difference between the two is that Ali is probably better with his hands.

He’s the most complete goalkeeper I’ve seen in my career. He is so calm.

Not playing is the hard bit, the feeling of being on the pitch at the end when you’ve won is what I miss most.

I understand how people who don’t play stop doing their work. That is why I push myself every day.

I get in the gym at 9am. The boys must look at me and think, ‘What’s that idiot doing there again?’
