Since leaving Liverpool, it’s safe to say things haven’t gone as planned for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
He is out of favour for club and country and is really struggling to recapture the form that made him one of the biggest matchwinners in world football at Anfield.
In recent weeks, there have been suggestions that he could return to Liverpool.
And Jamie Carragher feels the Reds should consider bringing him back as it would be a win for all parties involved.
Jamie Carragher not against Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool return
“At the moment, he’s third-choice right-back for Real Madrid,” said Carragher via The Overlap.
“When you’re third choice at a club, they’re obviously wanting you to move on. I’d have him back.
“I think he made a big mistake leaving. But if something benefits Liverpool Football Club going forward, when you think of the problems Liverpool have at right-back.
“Ronald Araújo has been fantastic, but we do have a problem in terms of the full-backs’ passing. We’ve definitely missed Trent’s creativity.”
Alexander-Arnold irked the Anfield faithful when he left the club to join Real Madrid, so his relationship with the fans certainly needs fixing.
However, purely on sporting terms, we can see the merits behind a return to the club, especially with the Reds struggling at right-back since his departure.
