Newcastle United make official €45m offer for Liverpool transfer target

Liverpool and Newcastle United shared the spoils 2-2 in an entertaining game of Premier League football yesterday at St James’ Park.

Alexander Isak’s presence was an intriguing subplot in the game as the Swedish striker returned to his former hunting ground for the first time as an opposition player.

Over the years, the two sides have fought for the same player, with Liverpool grabbing Hugo Ekitike and Victor Munoz from the Magpies’ clutches.

Now, however, it appears as if the opposite could happen as Newcastle United have made an offer to sign Liverpool target Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

Liverpool were linked with Fernandez-Pardo earlier in the summer before pressing ahead with moves for Bradley Barcola, Ibrahim Mbaye and Yankuba Minteh.

And now, Loic Tanzi of L’Equipe reports that Newcastle have made an official offer worth €45m including add-ons for the attacker amid interest from Atletico Madrid and other clubs.

The Belgian international wants to leave and Liverpool wanted him earlier in the summer, but so far, the Reds haven’t submitted an offer for.

Fernandez-Pardo’s situation will be one to watch between now and the end of the summer transfer window as clubs are queuing up for him.

If Liverpool fail with moves for Mbaye, Barcola and Minteh, maybe they could return to the table for the Lille man, provided he doesn’t agree to join Newcastle or another club.
