Rangnick delivers update on Reds target Werner’s future

RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick has put Liverpool on ‘red alert’ with his recent comments regarding Timo Werner’s future at the club, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

The Reds have perennially been touted as potential suitors for the Germany international, whose displays in his homeland have earned plaudits in the past two seasons.

Jurgen Klopp may be looking to add yet more firepower to his squad this summer following Liverpool’s narrow failure to pip Manchester City to the Premier League title.

In doing so, Werner could be targeted, and Leipzig boss Rangnick has confirmed that he has yet to pen a new deal at the club, indicating that a departure in the near future could be on the cards.

Speaking to Doppelpass at Sport1, as cited in the report, the Bundesliga club’s manager said:

Our position is that if he does not renew the contract, he should change clubs. He has let us know and implied that he will not renew the contract.

He would first have to agree with a club and this club would have to contact RB, which has not happened to my knowledge.

It seems Liverpool could have a strong chance of luring Werner away this summer, with no new contractual agreement on the cards for the player at Leipzig.
