Rodgers Facing ‘Crunch Talks’ Over Future

Rodgers Facing ‘Crunch Talks’ Over Future

Reports in the national media suggest that Brendan Rodgers must prove to FSG that he’s the man to lead Liverpool in the future.

Chris Bascombe from The Telegraph, Paul Joyce from The Express and Tony Barrett from The Times all point out that the American owners have no intention to remove Rodgers from his position, but they do want to clear up a number of issues.

The meeting will apparently take place between Mike Gordon and Rodgers, and the club’s transfer strategy will be high on the agenda.

Joyce says that the admittance shared responsibility as to why Liverpool have slipped this year will be crucial, and that a shared vision of how to put things right will need to be put in place.

The transfer committee is infamous amongst supporters, and it’s workings will need to be reviewed. There seems to be a disconnect beteween Rodgers and the club in terms of transfer strategy; a divide which is not helping either party.

These end-of-season reviews are commonplace for FSG, and the fact it is taking place doesn’t necessarily spell bad news for the Liverpool manager, but it’s clear that there are issues to be resolved.
