‘Shame’ – Freddie Ljungberg fumes at what happened during Liverpool vs Atletico

Liverpool secured a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid, getting their UEFA Champions League campaign off to a positive start under Andoni Iraola.

The Reds came from behind to secure the win in front of their home fans courtesy of goals from Dom Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister after Marcos Llorente had given Atletico Madrid the lead.

The game had a lot of talking points, but after the game, Freddie Ljungberg appeared to suggest Cristian Romero left a bit of a nasty one on Alexander Isak.

Ljungberg pinpoints key Liverpool moment

In the second half, Isak was involved in a challenge with Romero where the former Tottenham defender appeared to get the ball and the player.

And Ljungberg feels the Argentine has developed a bit of a reputation for these poor challenges, as he called him out after the game.

“I watch an incredible amount of English football and have seen him at Spurs,” said Ljungberg via ViaplaySportsSE.

“This isn’t an accident. He does this on purpose, and the referees don’t get it. I think it’s a shame.”

Isak has struggled with his fair share of injuries in recent seasons, so we’re just happy he came out of it unscathed.
