First batch of TV fixtures announced

The opening set of Premier League fixtures to be televised by Sky Sports were announced today.

Liverpool’s first match of the season will once again be on a Sunday, and live on Sky Sports, as they travel to Stoke City with a chance to avenge last season’s horror show.

The match will be played on Sunday 9 August, with a 4:00pm kick off.

It is a repeat of the last match of the previous season, when Liverpool suffered a 6-1 hammering in what was Steven Gerrard’s ultimate appearance for the Reds.

The former Liverpool captain scored Liverpool’s only goal that afternoon.

After that, Brendan Rodgers’ side will welcome newly-promoted Bournemouth, who finished top of the Championship, on August 17. This match will feature on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.

Punditry is likely to come from ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville.

At the same time the following week, Liverpool’s trip to Arsenal will be also be televised by Sky Sports, as part of the Monday Night Football show.

The next televised match is the short trip to arch-rivals Manchester United.

The showdown at Old Trafford will be live on Sky Sports on Saturday 12th of September, with a 5:30pm kick off.

Sky Sports will also be telecasting matches on Friday nights for the first time ever.

With Liverpool competing in the Europa League competition this season, a number of their matches are likely to be moved from Saturday to Sunday and in some cases, Monday.
