The summer transfer window proved to be an eventful one for Liverpool under Andoni Iraola.
Four new players joined the club as the Spaniard aimed to fine-tune his squad after the departures of Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson, among others.
A few young players were loaned out to get regular game time under their belts and Ifeanyi Ndukwe was one of them.
The towering Austrian made a massive impression in pre-season before moving to Levante in La Liga.
And now, it appears as if he could return to Liverpool in January.
Ifeanyi Ndukwe could make Liverpool return in January
Ndukwe is highly rated at the club and it initially looked like he’d remain at Anfield this season after his eye-catching displays in pre-season.
However, he didn’t have enough points to get a UK work permit, as, at the time, he didn’t have enough top-flight experience under his belt.
Now, however, after a handful of appearances for Levante, Ndukwe can get his work permit, leading to suggestions that he could return to Liverpool.
Sky Sports Austria report that the central defender’s agents will hold talks with Liverpool this week to discuss his future.
An excerpt from the article reads: “Ifeanyi Ndukwe’s representatives will meet Liverpool officials this weekend to discuss a possible January return or continuing his loan at Levante.
“He secured the points needed for an English work permit after his debut against Barcelona.”
His work permit isn’t an issue anymore, but with Joe Gomez back, Ronald Araujo also capable of playing in central defence and Giovanni Leoni set to return next month, it would make sense for Ndukwe to remain in Spain and continue his development.
A lot could change between now and January, though, so this is worth keeping an eye on.
