Southampton boosted as Hasenhuttl will return to dugout for Liverpool clash

Southampton have received a major boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool, with manager Ralph Hasenhuttl set to return to the dugout for the game.

The Reds make the trip to St Mary’s on Monday night, looking to bounce back from disappointing draws against West Brom and Newcastle United.

Hasenhuttl was in self-isolation for his side’s 0-0 draw at home to West Ham in midweek, taking charge remotely, but the Evening Standard report that he will be back for the Liverpool match.

The 53-year-old has done a superb job with Southampton, recovering from a demoralising 9-0 defeat at home to Leicester City last season and now pushing for a top-six finish.

Monday’s game is going to be a major test of Liverpool’s title credentials, following a flat week for the Reds.

The 7-0 mauling of Crystal Palace seemed to indicate that the champions were again very much the team to beat this season, but the aforementioned draws with West Brom and Newcastle were horribly below par.

Liverpool have still only won twice away from home in the league this season, which is a record that has to change, starting against Saints on Monday.
