Suso set for Italy

UPDATE

AC Milan are willing to pay £1m for the early release of the Liverpool midfielder according to Dominic King of the Daily Mail.

As below, it was expected that Suso would leave for Italy but this is the first mention of a fee for the left-footed Spaniard.

Reports in both Spain and Italy say that midfielder Suso will leave Liverpool this summer and join AC Milan. The Spaniard’s contract expires at the end of the season, and it’s understood that he has already agreed to join the Rossoneri.

Suso spent the whole of last season on loan to La Liga’s Almeria where he impressed, but a lack of game time since returning is likely to be the major factor in him leaving the Reds.

Suso joined Liverpool from Cadiz in 2010 and has made 21 appearances for the club, scoring one goal. 20 of these appearances came in the 2012/13 season as Brendan Rodgers juggled his squad with the club competing in the Europa League. However he’s only played once this season; as a substitute in extra time against Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup, a game in which he scored. He also took two spot kicks in the mammoth penalty shootout, and it was him who took Liverpool’s final penalty before Albert Adomah missed for Boro, sending the Reds through.

Suso has struggled with injury this season, but he captained the U21 side for 45 minutes as they took on Shrewsbury Town in a friendly, but it looks like the Spaniard’s time at Liverpool is coming to an end and his name will be added to the long list of youngsters who threatened to break into the first team and become a long-term Liverpool regular, only for them not to make the grade.
