‘Too expensive’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms massive Liverpool transfer blow

Liverpool remain in the market for attacking reinforcements but are running out of time to get them done before the Premier League season begins.

The Reds continue to remain in talks with PSG for the signings of Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.

Both players were in the squad for the Parisian giants as they secured a 2-1 win against Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup, but neither of them played a single minute.

And now, in an elaborate post on Liverpool’s situation in attack, Fabrizio Romano has spoken about Cody Gakpo and Barcola while also confirming some bad news on Mbaye.

Ibrahim Mbaye too expensive for Liverpool

So far, Liverpool have been unable to meet PSG’s price tag for Barcola but the two sides are in contact to reach a compromise.

The situation of Gakpo is also interesting amid interest from Tottenham.

Romano says Liverpool could add two wingers this summer if they sell Gakpo, although at this point in time, they deem Mbaye to be too expensive.

He wrote on X: “Liverpool could add TWO wingers to the squad, especially if Cody Gakpo ends up joining Tottenham.

“Barcola deal remain on as talks are ongoing with PSG, #LFC open to adding one more winger.

“Ibrahim Mbaye on list but currently too expensive.”

Liverpool have left themselves with way too much work to do in the last two weeks of the summer transfer window, so we have no idea how this will end for them. All we can say is that it’s far from ideal ahead of a brand new Premier League season.
