Tottenham reportedly had scouts keeping a close eye on Liverpool-linked Nicolo Barella during the international break.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Mauricio Pochettino’s men had scouts running the rule over the midfielder during Italy’s game against the United States.
The game ended 1-0 in Italy’s favour thanks to a late goal from Inter’s Matteo Politano.
The Cagliari midfielder is attracting a wealth of interest from a number of clubs around Europe.

Inter, Liverpool and Milan have all been credited as admirers of the player ahead of the January window.
Pochettino’s side are also expected to launch a move for the Italian international in the coming months.
His performances in Serie A are not going unnoticed, with the young midfielder now regarded among some of the best prospects coming through in what is a new generation of Italian talent.
With interest mounting, Cagliari will be desperate to keep the player beyond January but face a battle to do so.
