Liverpool have blown hot and cold in pre-season under Andoni Iraola but secured a commanding 2-0 win against Como at Anfield.
The Reds produced a spirited display in front of their home crowd as they played particularly well in the first half.
For large parts of last season, the writing seemed to be on the wall for Arne Slot as the brand of football was drab and results were uninspiring.
And now, Milos Kerkez has revealed the key difference between Slot and Iraola’s philosophies.
Milos Kerkez lauds Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola
“I can remember last season how it was,” said Kerkez after the win against Como.
“I can’t wait for it. We need to get the three points. It’s a big difference. We need to run a lot more.
“It’s tough but we have to do it; everyone can’t wait for the season to start. I am running more; I have freedom.
“The manager is giving me confidence. Play aggressive and front foot.”
Iraola’s brand of football is obvious to see and although Liverpool aren’t perfect when it comes to pressing from the front, they seem to be working on it.
Intensity is a word that has been used a lot by the Spaniard, and judging by Kerkez’s comments, that’s exactly what was missing under Slot.
