The fee that Liverpool will pay to Burnley for the services of Danny Ings will now be decided by tribunal, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
After weeks of negotiations, the two clubs could not reach an agreement for the 22-year-old striker.
The England Under-21 international agreed a move to Anfield on June 8, but the details of the transfer have still not been determined.
Although Ings’ contract expired with Burnley on June 30, the fact that he is under 24-years-old means that Burnley are entitled to compensation for him.
The Red’s initial offer of £5m for Ings was rejected by Burnley, with the Clarets reportedly going on to enquire about the possibility of making a loan signing from Liverpool as part of the deal. However it is understood that the Reds have turned this down.
With the two clubs unable to come to an agreement on the fee for the Englishman, who scored 11 goals for Burnley in the Premier League last season, the decision will be set by a panel.
The fact that Tottenham Hotspur were prepared to make a £12million bid for Ings will likely influence the decision on the fee, or so Burnley will hope.
Ings is scheduled to meet with the rest of the Liverpool squad on Wednesday to begin pre-season training, having cut his break short after the European Under-21 Championship.
