Virals: James Pearce outlines Liverpool’s summer priorities

Having masterminded a third-place Premier League finish owing to a 10 game unbeaten run-in, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will no doubt have already set his sights on targets for next season.

The Reds endured a difficult 2020/21 campaign on the back of ending a three-decade wait for top-flight glory just months earlier.

Partially down to rotten injury luck, but also dramatic losses of form from various squad members, Klopp’s side floundering some way off the European pace earlier in the year.

The German boss managed to rally the troops and a recapturing of form meant Liverpool will indeed be competing in next seasons UEFA Champions League.

Now attention will turn towards attempting to galvanise the current crop – whilst allowing some to depart – in order to compete for the major honours once again.

According to the reputable James Pearce, as cited by The Anfield Buzz on Twitter, Liverpool have a set list of priorities already established.

Further reports elsewhere have claimed Divock Origi could be joined by Harry Wilson, Loris Karius, Taiwo Awoniyi and Marko Grujic on the list of potential departures.

Those priorities in that order seem more than reasonable and reflective of the needs within the squad.

Liverpool look to be close to achieving the central defensive target with Ibrahima Konate seemingly edging towards an Anfield arrival.

Midfielder targets may be limited to whoever is more attainable, although a plethora of names have been linked with the task of replacing Gini Wijnaldum.

Selling Origi in order to fund and find a place for a new option is a no-brainer this summer – the Reds simply cant persevere with the underperforming Belgian any longer.
