Virals: Liverpool among clubs ‘waiting’ for Marco Asensio

Liverpool are believed to be among a host of clubs ‘waiting’ for Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio

The Reds have previously been linked with the 25-year-old Spaniard and it would appear the interest hasn’t yet gone away.

According to a report from Spanish outlet ElNacional, as cited by Eurasia Review on Twitter, Liverpool are monitoring the situation alongside a number of European superpowers.

The report claims that the Anfield club are ‘waiting for a decision’ from the 26 times capped Spain international regarding his future.

This comes as Asensio struggles to feature prominently in Crdlo Ancelotti’s plans at the Bernabeu.

So far this season the versatile ace, previously hailed as a ‘very smart’ player by Jorge Valdano, has scored three times in 11 fleeing outings across all competitions.

Jurgen Klopp will be seriously assessing the attacking options at his disposal over the next two transfer windows.

Albeit the likes of Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah continue to produce the goods – Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino continue to suffer.

Asensio is a widely versatile operator whose career has stagnated somewhat in the Spanish capital after rich acclaim in his early days.

Valued at £31.5million and under contract at Los Blancos until 2023 (Transfermarkt), Liverpool would be wise to assess the situation and perhaps swoop for a top player at a bargain price.
