Virals: Liverpool have ‘asked’ Atletico Madrid about Joao Felix transfer

Liverpool have reportedly ‘asked’ Atletico Madrid about the possibility of signing highly-rated forward Joao Felix.

The Reds have recently been linked with a sensational move for the 22-year-old and could be pushing ahead before the January transfer window opens.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be considering options to bolster the attacking ranks in the long term as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah leave for the African Cup of Nations.

Now, according to a fresh report from Cadena SER, as cited by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter, Atletico could be open to letting their Portuguese starlet leave.

The report claims the 20-cap ace’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been told to ‘bring the money’ in January in order to develop a departure.

So far this season Felix – hailed as a ‘complete’ player by Diego Simeone – has scored once and provided two assists in 13 appearances for Los Colchoneros.

Valued at £63million and under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2026 (Transfermarkt), the required ‘sizeable’ offer has been mooted elsewhere at the forward’s exact market value.

Signed for an eye-watering £113million in 2019 (BBC), Atletico would be looking to recoup a large chunk of that fee in January.

Despite the daunting figures, Felix is already an elite performer with an abundance of potential to improve further.

Predominantly operating as a second striker, Klopp would relish the opportunity to transform the Portuguese star in to Roberto Firmino 2.0.
