Virals: Liverpool reportedly ‘considering’ making move for Alexander Isak

Liverpool are reportedly ‘considering’ a move for Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak

The Reds were initially linked with the 22-year-old during the summer following a superb breakthrough onto the international stage with Sweden.

Isak was a standout performer for the Scandinavian nation at Euro 2020 and former Premier League winger Freddie Ljungberg became besotted with the ‘special’ ace.

According to a report from a Spanish outlet El Nacional, as cited by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter, Jurgen Klopp is eyeing Isak as a Divock Origi replacement.

The report claims that Liverpool could be preparing a €40million (£34million) offer to take the 29-cap starlet – some way short of the €90milion (£76million) release clause.

Following on from a 17 La Liga goal 2020/21 campaign, Isak has netted five times in 13 appearances across all competitions this season for the table-topping Sociedad.

Despite his almost target man-esque look at 6’2, the Swedish frontman possesses superb dribbling ability and is more in the mould of Roberto Firmino than Peter Crouch.

Klopp will need to add attacking reinforcements sooner rather than later and finding a replacement for Origi seems like a long time coming.

Valued at £36million and under contract until 2026 in Spain (Transfermarkt), whilst it may not take the full release clause to do the trick, an offer somewhere close will likely be needed to get the deal over the line.

matchday.
