Liverpool’s newest acquisition Roberto Firmino will get help settling in to life in the UK by a player who plays for a Premier League rival.
Chelsea forward Willian, who himself was a reported former target for the Reds, has said that he’ll help his international teammate with the ‘transition’ to Liverpool.
The Chlesea man was also very complimentary of Liverpool’s new attacking midfielder, and is confident that he will be able to adapt his game in order to be a success in England.
Speaking to reporters while on international duty, Willian said of Firmino:
“He’s a great player. He knows how to score. He’s strong. Obviously, British football is played differently. It’s very quick and aggressive and it is tough to adapt there but he has everything in order to make that change.”
None of that will come as a shock to Firmino. All foreign players do need to get used to the style of the Premier League, and Reds fans will be patient with his as he adapts to live in England.
What was somewhat surprising was Willian saying that he’ll help Firmino settle into life as a Premier League player. As a member of a rival club, this wouldn’t be something you’d expect to hear him say:
“As far as I’m concerned – and other players like Philippe Coutinho, who will also play with him – we will try to help him with his transition to Liverpool.”
