Liverpool will fly from Charlotte to New Jersey for the second phase of their tour of the USA on Tuesday morning and when they arrive, they’ll be met by new signing Xherdan Shaqiri, as Neil Jones of Goal reports.
The former Stoke City winger was given time off by Jurgen Klopp following Switzerland’s World Cup run, where they reached the Last 16 before losing to Sweden.
The Reds will face Manchester City at the MetLife Stadium on Wednesday evening (1am Thursday morning BST), but there is no chance of Shaqiri being involved in that game.
He won’t feature against Manchester United a few days later either, although the Reds could have Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Marko Grujic back for that match.
Those three players have been in training for a week since their own post-World Cup holidays and all three are expected to get 45 minutes against United in Ann Arbor.
