Liverpool made it through to the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup after beating Chelsea on penalties at Anfield.

After a 1-1 draw in normal time, the Reds prevailed on spot kicks at the Anfield Road End to set up a clash against Andoni Iraola’s former team, Bournemouth, in the next round.

The Spaniard made a handful of changes to his starting XI to ensure all his players were fresh, with Trey Nyoni earning another start.

And it’s safe to say the young midfielder made the most of his opportunity as he was named Man of the Match.

Speaking after the game, Rio Ngumoha believes Liverpool are yet to see the best of Nyoni despite his strong start to the season.

Rio Ngumoha lauds Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni

“Trey is top,” said Ngumoha via Sporty TV.

“You guys haven’t even seen him at his very best yet. He definitely has another level to go and he’s only 19.

“The sky is the limit for Trey. I’m really happy he’s getting the minutes to show himself, but also everyone else, how good he is.”

Nyoni is well and truly a first-team player and seems to have Iraola’s faith, having also started the Reds’ UEFA Champions League clash against Villarreal last week.

As Ngumoha said, the sky is the limit for him if he carries on in the same vein.
