Liverpool legend John Toshack believes that the Reds should consider sacking Jurgen Klopp if his side fails to win a trophy this season.
Klopp has taken Liverpool from also-rans to a side capable of winning major honours in the three years he’s been at the club but Toshack thinks that the Reds should consider finding a replacement if the trophy cabinet remains empty this year.
He said:
If Liverpool don’t win a trophy this year then they’ve got a decision to make (about Klopp).Things look really good at the moment, but this is Klopp’s third full season at Liverpool and this is the acid test for him. You can be unlucky not to win a trophy, but at the top clubs that’s what matters. It’s such a fine dividing line, but when you’re at a club like Liverpool that’s what it’s all about.
Liverpool have lost in three finals under Klopp, an unwanted record which the German will be keen to rectify in the very near future but if he doesn’t, and if Liverpool fail to win the Premier League title, then Toshack thinks a change could be required.
