Everton look set to rival their Merseyside neighbours Liverpool in the pursuit of Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente.

The centre-back has enjoyed a fine season in La Liga, attracting interest from Newcastle and Liverpool respectively, and according to the Daily Post via the Mirror, the Reds’ local rivals Everton are also eyeing a move for the Spaniard.

Llorente came through the ranks at Real Madrid before moving to Sociedad in 2017 in the pursuit of first team football, and is said to be valued at £25million by the La Liga side.

Liverpool have been linked for a move for the defender previously this season, and boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be looking at the 25-year-old as a potential partner for Premier League Player of the Year Virgil van Dijk.

The Premier League trio could have to act quickly in their pursuit for Llorente, however, as Los Blancos reportedly included a buy-back clause of €25million in the deal that took him to Sociedad.
