Liverpool boosted as Djorkaeff hints at Mbappe leaving PSG

Paris Saint-Germain ambassador Youri Djorkaeff has hinted that Kylian Mbappe’s days at the club could be coming to an end.

Liverpool have been continually linked with a sensational move for the 21-year-old this year, with Real Madrid also considered front-runners to sign him in the future.

Mbappe has stayed put at PSG for the time being, but he is now in his fourth season at the club and a fresh challenge could appeal.

That appears to be the view of former France World Cup winner Djorkaeff, who told ParisFans that the striker won’t be in France forever:

I think that Mbappe will always have the right opportunity. Now he’s on a project. He is entering his fourth year in Paris, he’s a young player. I don’t see him staying at PSG for 10 years.

His future is to win titles on all continents, something few French people have done.

Last year he had a great opportunity to win the Champions League. Unfortunately, he didn’t. This year he will still have the opportunity.

The ideal [scenario] is that he wins it and then after he signs for a big club. Everyone will be happy.

The idea of Mbappe in a Liverpool shirt is an extremely exciting one – the fact they are even in the conversation to sign him is testament to the progress made under Jurgen Klopp.

Madrid does appear to be his dream destination, however, and the Reds could also struggle to match his wage demands, which are currently approximately £375,000 a week.

Should Mbappe join Liverpool, it is hard to see all three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all staying put at Anfield, however.

Klopp would find it extremely difficult to keep all four players happy, in terms of playing time.

It may also be that Liverpool can only afford the Frenchman if money is generated through selling one of their most prized assets.
