‘I hope’ – Andoni Iraola reveals what Alexander Isak must do to get even better at Liverpool

Alexander Isak is enjoying his best spell at Liverpool since his Premier League record move to the club from Newcastle United last summer.

The Swedish international has already scored six Premier League goals so far and is slowly finding the form that made him one of the most feared strikers on the planet.

Isak has been Liverpool’s leading man this season and will look to carry on in the same vein when the Reds face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup later today.

And Andoni Iraola has challenged the experienced striker to help his teammates out in the build-up, which will in turn help him get into better goalscoring positions.

“I think Alex feels the trust of everyone,” said Iraola in his pre-match press conference.

“Everyone trusts that if he moves into good positions, he will score goals.

“But I always tell him he has to help us so we can give you the chances, and I think he understands that necessity. I hope that can continue at the same level.”

Iraola appears to want Isak to be more involved in the build-up as opposed to just being a penalty box poacher.

If the 26-year-old improves this part of his game, he is arguably the only one in the Premier League who can give Erling Haaland a run for his money in the race to win the Golden Boot.
