Liverpool XI against Midtjylland confirmed as Klopp rings the changes

Liverpool’s starting lineup for tonight’s Champions League clash with Mitdjylland has been confirmed, with Jurgen Klopp making four changes to the team that beat Sheffield United 2-1 at the weekend.

The Reds host the Norwegian side in their second European game of the season, hoping to build on their 1-0 win at Ajax last week.

There are no changes to Liverpool’s back-line, with Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson all retaining their places in the side.

It is starting to look a settled defensive unit in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip.

In midfield, English pair Jordan Henderson and James Milner both start, with the latter coming in for Gini Wijnaldum, who is rested. There is no place for youngster Curtis Jones.

The world-renowned front-three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have all been given the night off, too, but Diogo Jota has kept his place.

The Portuguese looks set to be on the left-hand side in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Xherdan Shaqiri, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi all drafted into Liverpool’s attack.

It will be intriguing to see how this much-changed Reds outfit fares at Anfield, against a Midtjylland side who are the minnows of Group D.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Gomez, Robertson; Henderson, Milner; Shaqiri, Minamino, Jota; Origi

Subs: Adrian, Kelleher, R.Williams, N.Williams, Wijnaldum, Jones, Cain, Salah, Mane, Firmino
