Liverpool fans bemoan Origi’s ‘woeful’ performance in Atalanta defeat

Some Liverpool supporters have been left deeply unimpressed with Divock Origi’s performance against Atalanta.

The Reds hosted the Serie A outfit on Wednesday night, looking to go through to the Champions League knockout rounds.

As soon as Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup was announced there was reason to be fearful, however, with numerous changes made and fringe players thrown in.

Origi was one of those to be given a chance to shine, playing down the middle, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane either side of him.

If Liverpool’s two superstar wide men had poor evenings, the Belgian was on another level when it came to ineptitude, as Liverpool lost 2-0 at Anfield.

The 25-year-old was completely ineffective throughout, with the Reds’ attacking play too often blunted by him.

Touches were heavy, passes were misplaced and he very rarely looked anything close to a goal threat.

Origi was eventually substituted in the second half, having produced a horrible performance, suggesting his long-term future lies away from Anfield.

What he has done for the club will never be forgotten, but he increasingly feels out of his depth in this team.

These Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to criticise Origi’s display, with many fast losing faith, despite his past heroics.
