A number of Liverpool fans have been mocking Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard, also declaring Steven Gerrard the superior player, following confirmation of UEFA’s ‘Ultimate Team of the Year’.
The line-up comprises those who have appeared in UEFA’s Team of the Year on the most occasions, with Gerrard pipping his former England colleagues in midfield.
The Liverpool legend is in the XI alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, not to mention former Barcelona greats Xavi and Andres Iniesta. There are also places in the team for Iker Casillas, Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, Sergio Ramos, Philipp Lahm and Thierry Henry, in a legendary list of names.
It is the latest argument to suggest that Gerrard was better than Scholes and Lampard, with the debate still raging to this day.
Taking to Twitter, these Liverpool fans mocked the former Manchester United and Chelsea stars, also showing their love for Gerrard at the same time.
