Liverpool fans show love for Gulacsi after helping knock out Man United

A number of Liverpool fans have been lauding former goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, after he helped eliminate Manchester United from the Champions League.

The Reds’ bitter rivals were beaten 3-2 by RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening, crashing out of the competition in the process.

Gulacsi was in the Leipzig goal, proving to be a vital reason for his side’s progression to the knockout rounds.

Leipzig were cruising 3-0 at one point, only for United to stage a second half comeback.

In the dying seconds, Gulacsi prevented an own goal, preserving his team’s place in the competition and also ensuring United crashed out.

Liverpool fans watching on were hugely appreciative of the 30-year-old’s input, with the sight of United failing always a pleasant one.

Gulacsi never actually made a first team appearance for the Reds, but was signed by Rafa Benitez as a teenager back in 2008.

These Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to laud the Hungarian for his efforts against United, with one Kopite rather excitedly calling him a “Liverpool legend” despite him never actually featuring for the Reds’ first team.
