Liverpool are interested in signing Inter Milan centre-back Stefan de Vrij, according to FC Inter News [via Sport Witness].
The highly-rated Netherlands international has become a key man for the Serie A side, shining under Antonio Conte.
De Vrij is believed to have caught the eye of Liverpool, who may be in the market for a new centre-back, following long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
The 28-year-old is reportedly willing to ignore the Reds’ advances, however, due to being happy at Inter currently.
It is even stated that he could even stay beyond his current deal, which expires in 2023.

De Vrij is an excellent defender, but this does appear to be a deal that won’t come to fruition.
Even if Liverpool were interested, it would seemingly only be a relatively short-term fix, with the Dutchman turning 29 next year.
If Jurgen Klopp wants to sign a centre-back, the likelihood is it will be someone he sees as being at the club for a long period, rather than briefly filling the Van Dijk and Gomez-shaped void.
Someone like Ozan Kabak makes more sense, for example, especially as the 20-year-old could potentially be available for as little as €15million in January.
