Liverpool keen on offering Fabinho new-and-improved deal

Liverpool are keen to offer Fabinho a new-and-improved contract, according to the Times‘ Jonathan Northcroft.

The Brazilian has been a fantastic signing from Monaco, mastering the No.6 role and helping the Reds win both the Champions League and Premier League.

Fabinho has been predominantly used as a centre-back this season, however, filling the void left by Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, and performing superbly.

The 27-year-old’s current deal expires in 2023, but Liverpool reportedly want to extend his stay beyond that, improving his £100,000 per week wages in the process.

Fabinho is a wonderful footballer who is proving to be more influential than ever this season, playing so well in a new role.

He is a player full of intelligence, versatility and quality, so the idea of offering a new contract is a no-brainer.

The Brazil international will still only be 29 when his deal runs out, so retaining his services far beyond that would be a sensible decision.

There are others who earn more headlines in this Liverpool squad, but Fabinho has grown into one of the most important players at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.
