Jurgen Klopp reportedly urges FSG to offer Gini Wijnaldum new contract

Jurgen Klopp wants FSG to offer Gini Wijnaldum a new deal at Liverpool, according to Eurosport.

The Dutchman’s Anfield future is still up in the air, with his current contract expiring at the end of the season. The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Barcelona, but he still appears to be weighing up his options.

This latest report suggests Klopp is desperate to keep hold of one of his most important midfielders, urging Liverpool’s owners to extend his stay at Anfield.

Apparently, the Reds manger will ‘request’ that FSG offer Wijnaldum a new deal, such is the esteem in which he holds the midfielder.

Wijnaldum has shown this season exactly why Liverpool should do all they can to keep hold of him.

The 30-year-old has not only been consistently fit, starting 11 and featuring in all 12 of the Reds’ Premier League games, but he has also performed superbly on the whole.

Wijnaldum’s decision on his future is ultimately up to him, and if he feels a new challenge is required, his decision deserves to be respected. He is a modern Liverpool legend whatever happens, but another few years of him at Anfield would be ideal.
