Liverpool and Manchester United have “significant interest” in signing Brighton star Yves Bissouma, according to journalist Jonathan Shrager on Twitter.

The 24-year-old has become a key man for the Seagulls, starting 13 of their Premier League games so far this season.

Liverpool have been linked with Bissouma in recent days and a fresh report has emerged regarding the Malian.

Shrager claims to have spoken to the player’s representatives, who have informed him that the Reds, United and Arsenal are all interested, as are Monaco and two unnamed La Liga clubs.

Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards has been almost faultless in the transfer market at Liverpool, so it is intriguing to see Bissouma being monitored closely.

The work-rate and quality that the midfielder possesses has stood out for Brighton, so he could be a shrewd addition.

With Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum both 30 years of age now, Klopp will eventually need to eye up potential long-term additions in the middle of the park.

Bissouma is at a good age to come in, possibly next summer – although there appears to be strong competition for his signature, Liverpool are arguably the most appealing team to play for in Europe right now, given their recent success.
