Liverpool have ‘genuine interest’ in summer move for Ben White

Liverpool have a ‘genuine interest’ in signing Ben White this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo‘s Paul Gorst.

The Reds have been linked with a host of centre-backs of late as they look to potentially make a January addition. Jurgen Klopp has suggested a new face may not arrived this month, though, with Liverpool waiting until the summer instead.

White has been tipped to make a move to Anfield in the past and those rumours aren’t going away.

This latest report claimed that Liverpool’s focus is on the next transfer window, at which point the Brighton defender could be considered an option.

White is an exciting young English player who has impressed for the Seagulls this season, even playing a midfield role at times.

The 23-year-old is only winning an average of 1.6 aerial duels per game, however, which is an area Liverpool look for dominance in.

In contrast, Liverpool centre-back quartet Joe Gomez (3.0), Virgil van Dijk (2.4), Joel Matip (2.3) and Fabinho (2.1) have all been comfortably superior in the air this season.

White’s versatility could make him a sensible signing, but he will likely cost a hefty sum of money, so the Reds need to be convinced about his defensive qualities.
