Liverpool have been blessed over the last few seasons to sign some of the best talent available to them.

Names such as Fabinho, Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and many more have joined the Reds in recent years.

One player, however, came with a big reputation but is yet to make much of an impact at Anfield.

That is Guinean midfielder Naby Keita, who joined the club from RB Leipzig back in 2018 for £52.75million.

The now 26-year-old has had chances few and far between due to a horrid injury record over the last few seasons.

According to The Athletic’s James Pearce, Keita is still keen to stay and fight fo his place in the starting XI…

The report also suggests that Liverpool may be willing to let that happen, too.

Pearce says that the club realise the sale of Keita would see a huge chunk of their £52million paid be lost.

It is clear that both parties are still willing to try and make things work and that is a great sign.

Most Liverpool fans would have seen what Keita was capable of at Leipzig and how well he can play when fully fit.

His debut season in the Bundesliga in 2016/17 was the one that caught the clubs initial attention.

The midfielder managed 8 goals and 7 assists from central midfield – an fantastic return from his position.

With the likely loss of Georginio Wijnaldum this summer the club will need to other midfielders to step up.

This could be the perfect opportunity for Keita to earn his spot, but only time will tell on that front.
