Virals: Happy Birthday Liverpool Football Club

Liverpool Football Club turns 129 years old today (June 3).

After John Houlding famously broke from the board of now rivals Everton Football Club to form a new club in 1892, Liverpool FC was formed

The club was officially recognised by the Board of Trade on June 3, making the date the birthday of the famous Reds.

The early days started as they meant to go on as some months into the lifespan, Liverpool took on Higher Walton in their first competitive clash – running out 8-0 winners.

Just eight years after entering the Football League, the Reds rose to the pinnacle of the English game for the first time.

Since then domestically, the club has won nineteen top-flight titles, seven FA Cups, a record high eight League Cups and fifteen FA Community Shields with legendary managers Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley at the heart of multiple successes.

On the international stage, the club has won six European Cups, three UEFA Cups, four UEFA Super Cups and one FIFA Club World Cup.

The present crop have added their fair share of trophies to the rich history of the Anfield club and will be on the hunt for more under Jurgen Klopp when the 2021/22 campaign gets underway.
