Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool ‘lost the plot’ before half-time

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted his side ‘lost the plot’ in their UEFA Champions League opener against AC Milan.

The Reds were utterly dominant for the first half-hour and seemed in total control when a deflected Trent Alexander-Arnold cross found the back of the net.

But, after Mohamed Salah missed a penalty and the hosts squandered a host of chances, Milan began to see a way back into the clash.

Two goals before half-time stunned Klopp’s men and the Italians went in ahead at the break having been second best.

Speaking following a turnaround 3-2 victory, Klopp admitted it was a chaotic end to the first half that could’ve been avoided.

The German boss went on to hail the ‘outstanding’ Anfield atmosphere as well as a ‘sensational’ display from Belgian striker Divock Origi.

Second-half strikes from Salah and captain Jordan Henderson completed the comeback as Liverpool kicked off the group stage with an all-important three points.

Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid drew 0-0 with FC Porto in the other clash in Gorup B.

Klopp is spot on with his assessment.

Having been far superior for much of the first half, it seemed as though a second goal was almost an inevitiabity.

Instead, things became frantic and Milan punished a Liverpool side on all-out attack mode.

Thankfully the break came and the Reds could regroup to show their superiority once again in the second 45.

As for Origi, the surprise inclusion put in a stellar performance and went a long way to showing Kopites what he is still capable of producing.
