Virals: Liverpool make Leicester City star Harvey Barnes their top target

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly earmarked Leicester City star Harvey Barnes as the man to bolster the attacking ranks at Anfield.

Klopp is expected to strengthen the forward department in the near future as Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah approach five years as the first choice front three.

Diogo Jota arrived from Wolves in 2020 and has infiltrated the trio at times with superb results.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, as cited by Total Football Center on Twitter, Barnes is the man chosen to further freshen things up.

The report claims that the 23-year-old winger is ahead of Wolves ace Pedro Neto and exciting Belgian teenager Jeremy Doku in the list of targets on Merseyside.

Capped once by England at senior level, Barnes has returned from a long injury layoff this season due to a serious knee problem.

Since coming back to fitness, the man hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by Klopp has scored twice and registered two assists in 12 appearances across all competitions.

Signing an additional attacker would rightfully be a priority at Anfield as the likes of Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino continue to struggle on the biggest of stages.

Barnes is an exciting prospect with plenty of impressive attributes in advanced areas.

Albeit predominantly a left-winger currently, Klopp would likely attempt to convert the Englishman into a more versatile forward who could cover across the frontline.

Valued at £31.5million and under contract at the King Power Stadium until 2025 (Transfermarkt), any move for the ace would be an expensive but worthwhile one given the potential and the benefits of signing homegrown talent.
