Liverpool have been showing their Premier League title-winning credentials all over again in recent weeks and all things would appear positive at Anfield.

Still in the Carabao Cup and having qualified as comfortable group winners in the UEFA Champions League, nigh on the entire squad has featured at some point already this season.

However, it would seem two defenders could be disillusioned with their lack of game time and a January departure could be on the cards.

According to reports from The Sunday Mirror, as cited by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter, Neco Williams and Joe Gomez could be targetted for a mid-season move.

Anfield legend and new Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard could attempt to offer Gomez an opportunity as the Englishman has struggled on his return from injury.

So far this season the 11-cap England ace has made seven appearances across all competitions – including just 12 minutes of Premier League action.

Meanwhile, 17 times capped Wales star Williams has amassed 187 minutes of first-team action, providing two assists in the process.

Albeit recently hit by a minor calf injury, it had already seemed apparent Gomez was no longer the first-choice partner to Virgil van Dijk.

In fact, Ibrahima Konate had usurped the £27million valued man in the pecking order and it could be argued Nat Phillips’ exploits last term warrant a spot.

Having harboured ambitions of becoming a mainstay for the Reds and indeed England, Gomez won’t be satisfied with a bit-part role moving forwards.

For that reason perhaps a January loan move would be best for all parties in order to reinstall confidence and form in the ‘sensational’ one-time Jurgen Klopp favourite.

As for Williams, this could be a move that Liverpool sanction in the near future providing there is enough faith in another talented youngster, Conor Bradley.
