Virals: EFL club ‘looking to sign’ Liverpool defender Nat Phillips

Liverpool defender Nat Phillips is believed to be a target for Championship promotion chasers AFC Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old was the saviour last season for the Reds as the no-nonsense ace stepped into the breach in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

However, the Englishman has fallen down the pecking order once again at Anfield and could be on the lookout for regular first-team action.

Reliable journalist Paul Joyce on Twitter confirmed that the South Coast club are keen on pulling off a double raid on Liverpool.

So far this season Phillips has made just four appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side across all competitions.

It had been widely anticipated that the Bolton-born defender would be leaving Merseyside at some point during this window.

Whilst a fractured cheekbone may have hindered the possibility of a move up until now, the £7.2million valued man would appear to have finally found a suitor.

Although this is a deal that makes sense for the Reds in terms of receiving a loan fee now and a permanent fee down the line, having already gained Premier and Champions League experience, Phillips would be a superb capture for a second-tier club and perhaps could hold out for a late top-flight offer.
