Liverpool’s October Monthly Awards – Individual Player Performance

Liverpool’s October Monthly Awards – Individual Player Performance

We’ve asked members of the Read Liverpool writing staff to make their votes for Liverpool’s Monthly awards for October, the first of which was for Goal of the Month, the second for Player of the Month.

In our second category, I, along with Adrian, Dan, David and Sam have picked our Individual Player Performance of the Month from the games against Swansea, Manchester United, West Brom, Tottenham and Crystal Palace.

Here are our picks.

Adrian – Philippe Coutinho v Crystal Palace

This was the first time I’ve seen him be at the centre of everything good in a game. His passing, his link up play, his corners were actually good and we scored off them! All round great performance from a man who thinks he’s better than the opposition.

David – Daniel Sturridge v Tottenham

Perhaps a slightly controversial choice given Philippe Coutinho’s glittering displays, but this was a tantalising glimpse of Sturridge at his best. He was perfectly placed to bundle home the opener and kept his cool one-on-one with Michel Vorm to double the Reds’ lead. For me, it was proof that, though Sturridge may not be a ‘Jurgen Klopp player’, few strikers are more prolific on their day.

Dan – Daniel Sturridge v Tottenham

As good a 90 minutes as I’ve seen from Sturridge for a while, although admittedly the sample size is low given his recent game time. Looked dangerous all match, scored two very good goals and certainly assured Jurgen Klopp that he’s still very, very good (if that was in doubt).

Sam – Daniel Sturridge v Tottenham

Out of first team action, Sturridge needed to score goals in his start in the EFL Cup. Despite missing an absolute sitter, his brace and attitude were worthy of this award.

Ste – Philippe Coutinho v Crystal Palace

I thought Coutinho was outstanding against Palace. He ran the game and Palace couldn’t get near him. He got two assists and would have got a goal if not for a handball. He was sensational.

WINNER: Daniel Sturridge v Tottenham

Perhaps surprisingly, Daniel Sturridge’s brace over Tottenham earns him the award.
