Liverpool are slowly coming into their own under Andoni Iraola and are unbeaten across all competitions this season.
As they prepare to take on Manchester City on Sunday – who have won every game so far under Enzo Maresca – they could be without two key players.
Both Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo returned to Merseyside prematurely during the international break.
And earlier this week, Andoni Iraola confirmed that both players are injured and face a race against time to be fit for Sunday.
Now, neither of them was spotted in training as the Reds stepped up their preparations ahead of a crunch clash at Anfield.
Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo miss Liverpool training
Both players were missing from the training photos, and the Liverpool Echo have confirmed that they weren’t part of the scheduled session at the AXA Training Centre.
An excerpt from Paul Gorst’s article reads: “Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak are major doubts for Liverpool’s visit from Manchester City after appearing to miss training.”
Liverpool are already without Federico Chiesa and Hugo Ekitike in attack, so they won’t want to risk further injuries in that position.
If both players are unavailable, the likes of Bradley Barcola, Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz are set to start in attack, while Lewis Koumas could also come into contention to lead the line after a fine showing with Wales during the international break.
