Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain flies back to Liverpool due to knee injury

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss all of Liverpool’s pre-season training and friendly games, as well as the Community Shield clash with Arsenal, after picking up a knee injury at the club’s Austrian training camp.

The England international is also a doubt to be fit for the opening game of the Premier League season against Leeds United after injuring his knee after a challenge in training.

The injury is described as a similar issue as the one that prematurely ended Jordan Henderson’s 2019/20 campaign and if the captain’s recovery time is anything to go by, then Oxlade-Chamberlain will struggle to make it back for the game against Leeds.

The former Arsenal man has had his fair share of injuries in the past and Liverpool are taking no chances with him and as such, he will fly back to England to work on his rehabilitation at Melwood whilst his teammates stay in Austria.
