Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain picked up an ankle knock during friendly game with Blackburn.
The Reds stepped up their preparations ahead of the new season by facing the Championship side at Anfield and according to the very reliable The Kop HQ, Oxlade-Chamberlain injured his ankle during the game.
At this time, there’s no word if the injury was just a minor one or if it is anything more serious but Liverpool rightly took no chances with the fitness of the England international.
The Reds still have ten days before their season resumes with a clash against Everton at Goodison Park, so there’s still plenty of time for Oxlade-Chamberlain to get himself fit and firing, if the injury was only a minor one.
The 26-year-old will be keen to stay fit for a sustained period after he had suffered badly with injuries in recent seasons, so hopefully the knock is nothing more than a small impact injury, but we’ll soon learn more about his status.
