Liverpool know exactly what it is like to lose a star player to Barcelona as both Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho have swapped Merseyside for Catalonia in recent years, and the Reds could find themselves in a battle to keep another forward away from the La Liga giants.
According to a report from Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, the director of news outlet Ok Diario, Barca are lining up a summer move for Roberto Firmino.
Firmino has only recently signed a new deal with Liverpool and is a key player for Jurgen Klopp but the worry will be that he pushes for a transfer to Barca if they do make a move for him, similar to what both Coutinho and Suarez did in the past.
Inda suggests that Barca are looking to replace Suarez and they see Firmino as the perfect option, but they will not make any move until the summer.
When asked about Barcelona’s transfer plans, Inda said:
It’s about Firmino, Liverpool player, I already said that Luis Suarez is seen increasingly stubborn and they are considering doing the same operation as Coutinho but I guess at the end of the season, not halfway through.
