Barcelona interested in Andy Roberston

Barcelona are reportedly interested in Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, but could face a potential stumbling block in their pursuit of the defender.

The La Liga champions are said to be big fans of the 25-year-old, and were impressed by the Scotland international in Liverpool’s outstanding 4-3 aggregate victory over Barca in the Champions League.

And according to the Mirror, via Spanish Outlet Mundo Deportivo, Robertson is a transfer target for Ernesto Valverde’s side, as they look to strengthen their squad this summer.

The 25-year-old would set Barca back at least £100million, however, due to a clause inserted in the deal that saw Philippe Coutinho move to the La Liga giants in 2018.

The Catalan side reportedly agreed to a clause in the Coutinho deal that a fee of £100million will be paid on top of an agreed transfer fee should Barca look to sign a Liverpool player in the future.

Therefore even if the fee was the £10million that Liverpool paid Hull City for the defender in 2017, an additional £100m would be added due to the clause.

Robertson would become the fourth Reds player since 2010 to move to Barca should a deal be agreed, with Javier Mascherano, Luis Suarez and Coutinho all swapping Anfield for the Nou Camp.
