Harry Wilson hopeful of Derby return next season

Harry Wilson has revealed he is hoping to play in the Premier League with Derby County next season, after helping the Rams reach the play-off final following a successful loan spell at Pride Park.

Wilson is Derby’s top scorer this season with 18 goals, and the Wales international held his nerve in the play-off semi-final second leg to score a penalty to put the Rams 3-2 ahead on the night and draw them level on aggregate.

The 22-year-old has attracted attention from a number of sides across Europe following his performances for Derby this season, but according to the Derby Telegraph, Wilson is hoping to play for the Rams in the Premier League next season.

Obviously, every player wants to play at the top level – and the Premier League is the best league in the world. So if I could do that with Derby, it would be great, and we’ve got a great opportunity to do that.

The summer is when I’ll sit down and discuss my options. But for now, I’m just doing all I can to make sure that I do have that option – of playing in the Premier League with Derby come next season.

The likes of Southampton, Wolves and Crystal Palace have all been linked with a move for Wilson this summer, while the Wales international is also said to be a target for Bundesliga trio Eintracht Frankfurt, Hertha Berlin and Augsburg respectively.

And though Wilson revealed he has seen the interest in him circulating online, his full focus is on helping Derby win promotion to the Premier League in Monday’s play-off final against Aston Villa.

I’ve seen a lot of reports. I’m on social media and I saw the story break the other day. But I’m just concentrating on the final on Monday. I think it would be stupid of me to be thinking about anything else, because I know what a special thing we can achieve. So that’s got my full focus and in the summer, that’s when we’ll sit down and talk about my future.
